Hero of The Day

This past week, the state of Connecticut experienced a horrendous tragedy.   Lieutenant Dustin DeMonte and Sergeant Alex Hamzy, both of the Bristol Police Department, lost their lives responding to a domestic violence call.  These two brave officers were apparently ambushed, in what has been described as " a deliberate act " (1, 2) .   As Connecticut mourns, I find myself examining some of the lyrics to Metallica's "Hero of the Day" (see note ) (3) .    To wit: " The window burns to light the way back home A light that warms, no matter where they've gone.   They're off to find the hero of the day But what if they should fall by someone's wicked way ? Just An Introduction (To The Opposite Sketch?)

A quick introduction to Radio Free Connecticut.   What is Radio Free Connecticut? Radio Free Connecticut is a streaming and over-the-air (FCC Part 15) radio station located in Stratford, Connecticut.  Our broadcasts at 1540 AM serve the Bridgeport/Stratford city line area.     "Part 15"? What's that? In basic terms, "Part 15" is a section of Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules governing certain low-power transmissions.  The regulation states that radio stations which keep their power output to less than one watt don't need to have a broadcasting license.  As Radio Free Connecticut conforms with this rule, we are technically certified by the Commission.     What kinds of programming does Radio Free Connecticut offer? We are a music-intensive station, playing songs from the seventies up to the two thousands.  These are tunes that other stations seem to have forgotten about, including many "one-hit wonders".   ...
