Just An Introduction (To The Opposite Sketch?)
A quick introduction to Radio Free Connecticut.
- What is Radio Free Connecticut?
Radio Free Connecticut is a streaming and over-the-air (FCC Part 15) radio station located in Stratford, Connecticut. Our broadcasts at 1540 AM serve the Bridgeport/Stratford city line area.
- "Part 15"? What's that?
In basic terms, "Part 15" is a section of Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules governing certain low-power transmissions. The regulation states that radio stations which keep their power output to less than one watt don't need to have a broadcasting license. As Radio Free Connecticut conforms with this rule, we are technically certified by the Commission.
- What kinds of programming does Radio Free Connecticut offer?
We are a music-intensive station, playing songs from the seventies up to the two thousands. These are tunes that other stations seem to have forgotten about, including many "one-hit wonders".
- Do you run commercials?
Traditionally speaking, Radio Free Connecticut does not have advertisements. However, we have been known to run public service announcements (PSA's), or certain other spots that we believe to be "in the public interest".
- How about requests? Can I make music requests?
Of course! The best way to make any requests you might have is to hit us up on Facebook or Twitter. You may also contact us via radiofreerocket@aol.com.
- What's your schedule like?
Radio Free Connecticut doesn't really have a regular schedule. The best way to know about upcoming streams and broadcasts is to visit our Facebook and Twitter pages on a frequent basis.
- Where can I receive your broadcast signal?
If you're within a few blocks of the Bridgeport/Stratford city line, you can probably pick up our station. See our signal map for the approximate range of transmissions.
Thanks for listening to Radio Free Connecticut...
..."your true alternative"!
Note: MAJOR cool points to anyone who can tell me (without Googling!) the name of the Canadian TV show that this article's title refers to.
